QU50165 1-7/8" Shaft or Yoke Wear or Repair Sleeve provides a new seal surface for Yokes with 1-7/8" Diameter Ground Hub Diameters and 1-7/8" Shafts that have worn seal surfaces. Repair Sleeve Seal Surface Width is 9/16". Overall Width is 11/16". Fits shaft diameters of 1.872" to 1.878". Includes installation tool that allows you to quickly and easily drive or press your new wear sleeve in place.

Tech Note 1: Product Note
QU50165 are inexpensive compared to new yokes or shafts and it will fit many popular pinion yoke applications, including most Dana 60 and Dana 70 Axles. However, there are possible seal life issues with using a wear sleeve for under 3" diameter, high speed (over 1500 rpm) applications. Due to the thickness of the stainless steel wear sleeve material (about 0.020"), the ground hub diameter is increased by 0.040". Seals made to fit 1-7/8"shafts will expand over the now 1.915" shaft, but the increased seal garter spring pressure will cause the seal to run hotter than normal at speeds above 1500 rpm which may drastically reduce seal life. Also, many pinion seals will have a lip that will hit the removable flange on the wear sleeve. You can remove the flange from the seal, but great care must be taken to peel off the flange without distorting the wear sleeve!

Tech Note 2: Grooves
If your yoke or shaft is badly grooved, you should fill-in the grooves before installing the sleeve. If the original grooves are not filled, the wear sleeve may collapse into the grooved areas which will shorten seal life!

Tech Note 3: Product Recommendation
For daily drivers, I recommend you replace the yoke or shaft instead of using a wear sleeve due to the reduced seal life issues discussed in the Tech Notes above. For vintage or occasional use vehicles, a wear sleeve may work fine, especially for applications where a new part is unavailable or prohibitively expensive.
