Tech Note 1: Ford F250
1980-1996 F-250 4x4s were available with either the 3800/3850 pound capacity Dana 44IFS or the optional 4600 pound rated Dana 50IFS Independent Front Suspension Twin Traction Beam® front drive axles. QU50095 Upper Ball Joint fits both axle types, but the lower Ball Joints are different. If you are not sure which axle your F250 has, look at the front hubs. Dana 44 front hubs have an outside diameter roughly 3-3/8". Dana 50IFS axle hub diameter is about 4-1/8".

Tech Note 2: Tools
The Ball Joints on your Dodge or Ford Dana 50/60 front axle are pressed into the steering knuckle. To press your Ball Joints in or out of the steering knuckles, see TS4511 Ball Joint Press Set which all Dana 50IFS, Dana 50 Monobeam, and Dana 60 front axles that use this Ball Joint.

Tech Note 3: Camber Bushing
QA50095 Upper Ball Joint may fit many axle applications from 1980 to 2005, but different replaceable upper ball joint camber bushings were used depending upon the model, year, and suspension height. In many cases, the original camber bushing was replaced during a front end alignment at some point in the vehicles history. If possible, install the camber bushing from your old ball joints, then have your front end aligned by a competent front end specialist who can check and change toe-in, camber, and caster as needed.

Tech Note 4: Grease Fitting
QA50095 Upper Ball Joint comes with both a 90 right angle grease fitting and a grease plug. On most axles, there is insufficient clearance between the ball joint and axle yokes to leave the right angle fitting in place after greasing. On these axles, remove the right angle fitting and replace it with the supplied plug before operating the vehicle.
