TK4993 Oil Bath Front Axle Shaft Tool and Seal Kit for 2007-2018 Jeep JK Wranglers with Dana Super 30 Front Axles. Makes short work of installing new inner axle shaft seals in your 2007-2018 Wrangler JK. Quickly and easily install those all-important Inner Axle Shaft Seals without damaging the seal! Our unique installer design will press in your new Inner Axle Seals without damage because the CNC Precision Machined Installation Tool cups the seal so force is only applied on the steel seal shell. Tech Note 1: Kit Components

Tech Note 2: 2012 Change
For the 2012 Model Year, a change was made from QU40812 conventional, Single Lip Inner Axle Seals to D440600 Oil Bath Type Inner Axle Shaft Seals. The ID and OD of the seal is the same so they are dimensionally interchangeable. QU40812 has an integral axle shaft guide to help lift the axle shaft into the seal which allows the axles to be installed even if the original guide ring is missing from the inner axle shaft. D440600 does not have much of an integral guide so a separate guide ring is typically installed on the inner axle shaft at the factory to align the axle shaft with the seal during axle shaft installation.

Tech Note 3: Clean Axle Tubes
After removing the old seals (See optional Removal Tools QK4647, TS4863, QT1144), thoroughly clean the axle tubes to remove crud, grit, and scaly rust.

Tech Note 4: Lubricate Seals
Lubricate the Seal Lips with clean grease before installing the differential to provide initial lubrication. Install the axle shafts dry to minimize the chances of picking up residual grit inside the axle tubes as you slide the axle shafts into position.

Tech Note 5: Inspect for Wear or Damage
When replacing your inner axle seals, ALWAYS inspect your Ball Joints, Axle Universal Joints, Differential Bearings, and Wheel Hubs for wear or damage. The extra time needed to replace these components is minimal since you already have the axle apart to do the axle seals.

Tech Note 6: Adjustable Depth
TK4993 uses QT1203 adjustable depth installer which allows you to offset the seal to miss a worn spot on the axle shaft. This is a valuable feature, however, YOU have to determine the final depth of the seal. If you are not careful, it is unlikely but possible to seat the seal too deep with which can put the seal beyond the machined seal surface of the axle shaft.
