Tech Note 1: U-Joint Specs
QU40509 Yoke is made to accept Spicer 1330 Series External Lock-Up Universal Joints with a cap diameter of 1-1/16" and an installed overall width of 3-5/8". Matching U-Joints are QU40731 (premium, cold-forged) and QU40774 (greaseable).

Tech Note 2: 1/4" Length Difference
The QU40509 Yoke in this Kit is 1/4" shorter than the original pinion yoke used on 2000-2002 Dodge Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 4x4 Dana 60 front axles. QU40509 can be used with stock suspension 2000-2002 Dodge Ram Dana 60 axles as the driveshaft slip yoke has enough travel to safely extend 1/4". For trucks with lifted suspension, verify that your driveshaft slip yoke can safely extend 1/4".

Tech Note 4: Crush Sleeve
On 1994 to 2002 Dodge Dana 60 axles, pinion rotating preload is set by a crush sleeve (QU40356 ). When tightening your pinion nut, you have to be very careful as it will only take a small movement of the nut to go from too loose to too tight. If you over tighten the nut, you MUST get a new spacer and start over!!! Never back off the nut to try and reduce the rotating preload of the pinion!!!! See TM4400 or the factory shop manual for your truck for rotating preload specs.

Tech Note 5: Seal Choices
For the 2000-2002 model years, Ram Dana 60 front axles use an inner oil seal and an outer wiper V-Seal. There were 2 different, non-interchangeable inner seals used both of which are supplied in this Kit along with the outer V-Seal which is used with either inner seal type. Early production axles take QU40348, shallow shell seal. Later production axles have a deep seal bore and use QU40402 flanged seal.

Tech Note 6: Pinion Slinger
The yoke in this Kit should be installed WITHOUT a slinger. If the yoke we supply has a slinger installed, REMOVE it before installation. (We usually ship the Yoke without a slinger, but just in case, check your new yoke!)
