Tech Note 2: 1961-1975 Ford Dana 44
For the 1961-1975 model years, Ford used both standard 3300 pound rated and Heavy-Duty Dana 44HD 3500 pound rated closed knuckle front axles. TK4779 ONLY fits the Dana 44HD axle for these years. The Dana 44HD can easily be identified by the following features:
6 Bolt External Mount Hub Lock or Drive Flange (Bolt Size is 3/8")
12 Bolt Knuckle Ball Seals

Tech Note 3: 1977 Chevy, Ford, GMC, and Jeep
1977 was a transition year for the type of front wheel hubs used on 3/4 ton Ford, General Motors and Jeep 4x4s. TK4779 fits the early production hubs which have 6 Bolt External Mount Hub Locks or Drive Flanges (Bolt Size is 3/8"). Later production 1977 axles will have internally splined front wheel hubs.
