TK42048 Torque King® 1969-1974 Dodge W300 Forged Chrome-Moly Left 35 Spline Inner Axle Shaft is a Heavy-Duty, 1-1/2 x 35 Spline Chromoly, Thru-Hardened Left Inner Axle Shaft for 1969-1974 Dodge 4x4 1 Ton trucks with Dana 70 Closed Knuckle front axles. Length from Center of Hole to end is about 35-5/8". USA Made. NOTE: To use TK42048, you MUST also order optional TK42172 Special Heavy-Duty Spindle Bushing to install in the end of the axle housing in place of your original bushing. Tech Note 1: 1969-1974 Dodge Tracta Joint
To fit through the spindle hole in the knuckle, 1969-1974 Dodge W300 4x4s were factory equipped with relatively weak Tracta type axle shaft assemblies which are out of production. You can replace the Tracta type axle shaft assemblies with our stronger Chromoly Spicer type 1480WJ Axle Shafts similar in design to the factory shafts used in 1961-1975 IHC Dana 70 Axles and 1967-1968 Jeep M715 Dana 60 Front Axles. The yoke diameter of these shafts is too large to fit through the spindle hole in your knuckle, so to install/remove our axle shaft assemblies, you HAVE to remove the steering knuckle!

Tech Note 2: Dodge-Must Replace Assembly
If you are replacing Tracta Type Axle shafts in 1958-1974 Dodge W300 4x4s, You have to replace the entire shaft which means you are replacing the Inner Shaft, Outer Shaft, and Axle U-Joint.

Tech Note 3: U-Joints
Dana has discontinued the hot-forged, seal-less, solid cross axle shaft u-joints for this application. All our current u-joints have seals which I recommend you remove so lubricant from the knuckle can flow to the needle rollers. TK40715 is a cold-forged, premium strength, solid cross axle u-joint. QU30332 is a hot-forged, cross-drilled u-joint which will physically fit the axle shafts, but since it is cross-drilled, there will be a little loss of strength compared to the original joint.
