Description

QU40861 Unfinished Greaseable Rear CV Drive Shaft Assembly for 1999-2004 Ford Super Duty is the lowest cost way to replace your worn out Double Cardan Constant Velocity Ford Super Duty rear driveshaft with a brand new, totally greaseable, heavy duty Double Cardan Constant Velocity rear driveshaft that you customize for length and complete the final assembly. The 1350 Series CV Head is already welded to the tube, so all you have to do is determine what length to cut the tube before finishing the assembly. Welding and other machine shop skills and equipment is required to complete assembly!!!! QU40861 has a Medium Series Slip Yoke and U-Joint. USA Made. Length of Tube is about 48".

Also See: QU40894 has a Small Series Slip Yoke and U-Joint.

Applications

Tech Note 1: QU40861 vs QU40894
Both QU40861 and QU40894 Super Duty CV Rear Driveshafts use the same CV components, Tube, and Slip Stub, however the Slip Yoke and rear universal joint can be one of two sizes. QU40894 Has a "Small" size rear universal Joint made to Spicer 1350 Series dimensional specifications. The Cup Diameter is 1-3/16" and the overall width of the universal joint is 3-5/8". QU40861 Comes with a "Medium" size universal joint made to Spicer 1410 Series dimensional specifications. The Cup Diameter is 1-3/16" and the overall width of the universal joint is 4-3/16".

Tech Note 2: Tech Help
Cut your driveshaft tubing to a length that will have the slip yoke at the midpoint of it's travel over the non-splined segment of the stub with the trucks weight on the front axle. Driveshaft assembly can be done by any competent machinist, but best results are usually obtained from dedicated driveshaft specialists who can both finish and balance the finished shaft. For information on driveshaft runout and balance, see my TM3000 Driveshaft and Universal Joint Service Manual or TM3000 Excerpt TSB3510 Vibration, Balance, Angles, Ratings, Run Out, Torque Specs.

Applications
