QU40704 CV Joint Ball Seal 1985-up Spicer Type Constant Velocity Joints

QU40704 CV Joint Press On Dust Seal for CV Ball fits 1985-up Spicer-Type Non-Greaseable and 2004-up Greaseable Double-Cardan Driveshaft Constant Velocity Joints. This rubber & metal seal helps protect the CV Centering Ball from road splash and should be replaced anytime the u-joints are changed. It is a bit under 2" in diameter and just over 3/4" high. The seal is pressed onto the Ball Stud Tube Yoke (the CV yoke welded to the shaft). Over time, these seals are subject to dry rot and cracking. Replacement is recommended anytime the CV joint is rebuilt. This seal is primarily found on late 1980's to current CV shafts with non-greaseable CV Balls, however, it is also used on late model greaseable shafts such as those found in Dodge Ram trucks starting in 2005. Tech Note 1: Installation
These seals are a bit tricky to press onto the Ball Stud Tube Yoke as they are a fairly tight fit, but the metal seal flange you press against is not very wide so you may need to use a piece of pipe.
