Tech Note 1: Axle Shaft Note
Most of the outer axle shafts we sell are for Dana 70 axles in pulling trucks. While the old Dana 70's are good, stout axles, they are marginal for use in 1000 hp competition rigs (As are any axles from less than a 10-ton truck!). Since the outer shaft is only 1-3/8" in diameter they will twist off under severe loads. Our TK40689 Torque King® Heavy-Duty Chrome-Moly shafts are much stronger than QU40452 factory shafts, but they are not bullet proof. We will not warranty shafts wrecked from abuse, misuse or competition.

Tech Note 2: No Snap Ring Groove
QU40452 Axle Shafts do not have a snap ring groove cut in the splines. Axle Shaft Thrust is controlled by QU40431 Bushings pressed in the spindles and axle tubes.

Tech Note 3: U-Joints
Dana has discontinued the hot-forged, seal-less, solid cross axle shaft u-joints for this application. All our current u-joints have seals which I recommend you remove so lubricant from the knuckle can flow to the needle rollers. TK40715 is a cold-forged, premium strength, solid cross axle u-joint. QU30332 is a hot-forged, cross-drilled u-joint which will physically fit the axle shafts, but since it is cross-drilled, there will be a little loss of strength compared to the original joint.
