Tech Note 1: Model 70 Cover Changes
There have been many revisions to Model 70 covers over the years, most of which are no longer available. Early, light gauge covers were intended to be used with a gasket (QU40367). Starting in the late 1970's, most Dana 70 axles have fairly heavy gauge covers like this one that are designed to be sealed with RTV (S82194). The other significant change is the location and size of the fill plug. The fill plug location of this cover may or may not match your original cover. Regardless, you still need to run the oil quantity listed in your owners manual.
