QU40307 1972-2006 Jeep Dana 30 Axle Shaft Oil Seal

QU40307 Inner Axle Shaft Seal for most 1973 to 2006 Jeeps with Dana 30 Front Axles is a genuine Spicer original equipment replacement Seal for both front axle shafts on most Jeep Dana 30 and Dana Super 30 front axles without vacuum controlled Central Axle Disconnect (CAD). QU40307 is also the correct Inner Axle Shaft Seal for the LEFT (drivers side in North America) side for 1984-1996 Jeep Cherokee/Wagoneer (XJ) or Wrangler (YJ) Dana 30 Central Axle Disconnect (CAD) front axles.

Tech Note 1: 1973-2008 without CAD
For all 1973-2008 Jeep Dana 30 front axles that DO NOT HAVE vacuum controlled CAD, two of these seals are used. One QU40307 Seal is pressed in the inboard end of each axle tube next to the differential. It is impossible to replace the seals from the outside! You MUST remove the hubs, axle shafts, and differential to replace these seals. For Installation Tools, see QK4800, TS4800, and QT1139.

Tech Note 2: 1984-1996
On 1984-96 Jeep Front Axles with vacuum controlled Central Axle Disconnect (CAD) on Jeep Cherokee (XJ) and Wrangler (YJ) models, QU40307 seal is located inside your left axle tube, next to the differential. You MUST remove the hubs, axle shafts, and differential to replace this seal. QU40307 seal is installed from inside the differential housing with QT1089 Installer and the rest of the tooling in TS4624 or QK4624 CAD Axle Seal Installer Kits.

Tech Note 3: Functionally Interchangeable
QU40307 was the original equipment Inner Axle Seal for most 1979 and later Jeep Dana 30 front axles. It is functionally interchangeable with QU40057 Seal which was the original equipment Seal for 1972-1978 Jeep CJ Dana 30 front axles.
