Tech Note 1: Pin Must Line Up
One of the holes in this washer MUST line up with the pin pressed into the outer face of QU40166 Inner Spindle Nut. If the pin does not line up with a hole, try to reverse the washer. If the pin still does not slip into one of the holes, remove the washer and make a slight adjustment of the nut which will do the trick

Tech Note 3: External Tabs
The four external tabs on this lock washer are non-functional for manual hub applications. On models with 5 Bolt Cap automatic hubs, the tabs provide an anchor point for the inner hub body
