Tech Note 1: Safety Note
Stock Elastic Stop Spindle Nuts and Lock Wedges used on 1994-2002 Dodge Ram Dana 60, Dana 70, and 80 rear axles, and on most late 1970's to early 1990's Dodge 3/4 and 1 ton trucks using Dana Spicer Model 60 and 70 full float rear axles, along with some 1980-1987 Ford models equipped with Dana Spicer Full Float Model 60, Model 61, or Model 70 Rear Drive Axles, are designed to be installed once and only once! For safety reasons, you must discard both the nut and wedge if they are removed from the spindle for any reason!! This is a SAFETY issue!!! Both parts lose a percentage of their resistance of coming off when they are removed! You may hear of cases where this type of factory nut has come off while the truck was being driven. Invariably, these failures involve nuts and wedges that have been reused or improperly installed. NEVER REUSE ELASTIC STOP SPINDLE NUTS and LOCK WEDGES!!!!!

Tech Note 2: Use the Correct Lock Wedge
For 1979-1993 Dodge and ALL Ford applications, use narrow lock wedge (aka Key) QU40089 (Painted Orange, fits Narrow Spindle Slot)
For 1994-2002 Dodge Ram 2500, Ram 3500, use wide Lock Wedge (aka Key) QU40115 (Painted Yellow, fits Wide Spindle Slot)
You MUST use the correct Locking Wedge Key for your year truck. A narrow Key in a wide Slot spindle will not secure the nut in place!

Most Ford axles that use this type of spindle nut will use QU40077 for both left and right sides, however some Fords used a now discontinued left hand thread nut on the left (drivers) side and QU40077 right hand nut on the right (passenger) side.
