QU40028 Dana 44 and Dana 50 Inner Pinion Bearing Slinger is a 4-/18" diameter, genuine Dana original equipment, flat steel, Oil Slinger primarily found on front axle applications. QU40028 fits between your Dana 44 or Dana 50IFS axle's inner pinion bearing and pinion head. The large diameter of the slinger picks up and flings oil into the axle housing oil channel for better pinion bearing lubrication. Approximate thickness is 0.030". USA Made.

Tech Note 1: Dana 44
QU40028 is not used on all Dana 44 axles. It is primarily found on front axle applications, but it should not be used unless your axle was originally equipped with one.

Tech Note 2: Dana 50IFS
For the Ford Dana 50IFS front axle, QU40028 was used on 1980-1987 axles have QU40028 Slinger under the pinion bearing. 1989-1991 axles used a 4-1/8" diameter, selective fit slinger/shim between the inner pinion bearing and pinion head. 1992-1997 axles have a 2-1/4" diameter selective fit shim that goes in the same location. QU40576 Diff and Pinion Shim Kit works on all 1980-1997 Dana 50 IFS front axles. It includes 1992-1997 type, 2-1/4" diameter, selective fit, inner pinion shims. The 4-1/8" diameter slinger has been eliminated by Dana engineers, but you still need to use QU40527 baffle under the inner pinion bearing cup. QU40527 baffle is NOT included with this Kit and it must be ordered separately.

Tech Note 3: When Installing
Since QU40028 fits between the inner pinion bearing and pinion head, you MUST include the thickness of the Slinger when calculating your pinion depth shim pack. Typically axles that use this Slinger will have deeper inner pinion bearing bores compared to axles that do not use the Slinger.
