Tech Note 1: Locking Ability
These lock nuts are designed to be used only once. The locking ability of the nut is at its maximum on the initial installation. When setting up an axle, I use the old nut until the pinion depth and pinion preload is set. I then apply medium strength Threadlocker (see S9978, S24200) to a new nut and install it with a 1-1/8" socket.
