Tech Note 1: Important Product Note!
Will not work on transfer cases with either the 3 bolt rear extension piece or any models with the 1 piece Tailshaft housing. This includes ALL 1998-2002 241DHDs', MOST 1997 241DHDs' and any 1994-1996 241DHD model with the 2.2" diameter output yoke!
Tech Note 2: Snap Ring Failures
While not a super common problem, having the rear output shaft to rear output bearing snap ring fail is always a possibility on New Process chain drive transfer case models with slip yoke type, two piece rear extension housings. The most common models affected are the 32 spline rear output Chevy/GMC NP241C, 1994-2002 Dodge NP241DLD, and 1994-1996.5 Dodge NP241DHD transfer cases. If the snap ring stretches or breaks, the rear output (main) shaft assembly moves forward and wrecks the Range Fork. Typically the transfer case will jump out of gear. The sooner the problem is corrected, the cheaper your repair bill will be.

Great part for my transfer case from my 95 Dodge Cummins. The snap ring was in rather bad shape.

Best, most convenient option
I have bought case savers before, and I like this version best. These little devices are an absolute must for NP/NV transfer cases. Do NOT rebuild one without it! If yours is still working, put this in there right now! Torque King's is slightly more expensive than the ones I used to buy but the tube of goop is more than you need and makes it more convenient if you are not rebuilding and just adding this to a T-case that is not being pulled. If you are rebuilding, you'll have extra goop. One suggestion I would make is that they offer a package with the gray transmission sealer as well as some of these t-cases came from factory with transmission fluid as the recommendation and while most people switch to motor oil or the other options, some people will run transmission fluid. As for myself, I go with the factory specs.

Good quality
I've used this 2 times now. I own several second gens and this is fairly common failure. I have had one on my 97 for a few years now and haven't had any problems with it. I just put another one on one of my other trucks. I'll definitely be ordering more when I get to the other projects.

This kit is a huge lifesaver
This kit is a huge lifesaver. It replaces that snap ring that becomes stretched and pops out of groove
