QU20463 Ford Dana Super 60 Inner Axle Seal

QU20463 2011-2018 Ford Dana Super 60 Inner Axle Seal is a high-quality, original equipment oil bath type inner axle shaft oil seal that is specific to 2011-2018 Ford Dana Super 60 front axles in Super Duty F250, F350, F450, and F550 4x4 trucks. This seal can also be used to replace QU40244 in 1999-2010 Ford Dana 50/Dana 60 axles or QU40059 in 1975-1993 Dodge, 1977-1991 GM, 1978-1979 Ford, and 1985-1997 Ford Dana 60 axles.

Tech Note 1: 2001 New Design
Effective with the 2011 model year, Ford replaced QU40244 Inner Axle Shaft Seal which features an integral oil slinger on the diff side plus a generous axle shaft guide on the outboard side with QU20463 Seal that has no slinger and only a small shaft guide. Functionally, the seals are interchangeable on 1999 to current Ford Dana 50, Dana 60, and Dana Super 60 front axles, but they do require different installers. QU20463 Seals included in QK4983 Kit will also upgrade 1975-1993 Dodge, 1978-1979/1985-1997 Ford, and 1977-1991 GM Dana 60 front axles to oil bath axle shaft seals instead of the original QU40059 conventional seals.

Tech Note 2: Correct Seal Installer
The correct Seal Installer for QU20463 Seal is QT1222 which is available separately or in these Tool Sets and Kits:

Tech Note 3: Leaking Oil
If you are leaking oil out the end of your axle tubes, these are the seals that need to be replaced.

Tech Note 4: Service Procedures
Your brakes, wheel hubs, axle shafts, and differential must be removed from the housing to replace these seals. Refer to these 4x4 Tech Publications for service procedures for 1999-2004 Super Duty and 2000-2005 Excursion: TSB4643, TM4637, and TM4688.

Tech Note 5: 1975-1979 Dodge, 1977-1991 GM, 1978-1979 1985-1997 Ford
For 1975-1979 Dodge, 1977-1991 GM, 1978-1979 Ford, 1985-1997 Ford, and 2005-up Ford Dana 60 front axles, use TS4982 Tool Set to remove your old axle shaft seals.

Tech Note 6: 1999-2004 Super Duty and 2000-2005 Excursion
For 1999-2004 Super Duty and 2000-2005 Excursion, once the axle is disassembled, the old seals can be easily removed with our QK4647 Seal Remover Tool Set or other suitable tool such as a length of sturdy pipe that will fit inside the axle tube and oil guide. You will also need to clean the inside of the axle tube to remove dirt and crud that could get pushed into your new seal during reassembly. For 1999-2004 vehicles, QK4647 is made it fit through QU20039 Plastic Axle Shaft Guides which are located in the axle tubes just outboard of the inner axle shaft oil seals.
