QU20254 Rear Axle Vent Fitting & Brake Block Bolt for Ford Trucks

QU20254 Ford Truck Rear Axle Vent Fitting and Brake Block Bolt for 1988-2014 Ford Dana 80 and Sterling 10-1/2" Rear Axles is a genuine original equipment hollow bolt with factory applied thread sealant that is used to attach the rear brake junction block to the axle housing and it acts as the axle vent outlet to which you attach the axle vent hose. Fits Ford Dana 80, Sterling 10.5" rear axles, plus many Ford full size semi-float rear axles of the same era. Total length of threaded end is approximately 1-3/16".

Tech Note 1: Axle Vent System
Many rear wheel seal leaks are caused by pressure building in the axle due to a clogged axle vent system. Always check and clear the vent system.

Tech Note 2: 1995-1996 Changes
QU20254 started replacing QU20343 in production axles around 1995-1996. The two Vent Bolts are functionally interchangeable even though have different overall heights. Both parts have the same 1-3/16" thread/shoulder length and both connect to 5/16" ID Vent Hose. The difference is the hose nipple. QU20343 has a smooth nipple and requires QU50048 Hose Clamp to secure the hose. QU20254 has a barbed nipple and the hose is usually connected without the use of a clamp.
