QU20079 Ford Dana 50IFS Outer Axle Shaft is a brand new, genuine Dana original equipment axle shaft for all 1980-1997 Ford F250 and 1980-1985.5 F350 4x4 trucks with Dana 50IFS front axles. Tech Note 1: U-Joint Type
QU40824 takes an external snap ring type universal joint made to Spicer 1350WJ series dimensional specifications. The u-joint cup diameter is 1-3/16". The overall width is 3-5/8". See TK40719 and QK4874 Universal Joints.

Tech Note 2: TK40719 Premium Cold-Forged U-Joint
When TK40719 Premium Cold-Forged U-Joint is used as an Axle U-Joint, the beefed up axle yokes on 1980-1997 Ford Dana 50IFS front axles can pose installation problems unless the inside of the yoke ears are slightly modified with a file. Once you modify your new or good condition used axle shafts, TK40719 will just barely clear the yokes as you pivot the cross into place. Since TK40719 is the strongest production u-joint I know of, I believe the slight inconvenience of filing the yokes is well worth the effort.
