QT1156 Fixed Depth Inner Axle Shaft Seal Installer for Dana 60 and 61

QT1156 Fixed Depth Inner Axle Shaft Seal Installer for Dana 60 and 61 Front Axles Is used to install the QU40059 original equipment NOK inner axle seals on most 1970's-1990's Model 60 and 61 axles to a fixed depth. Permits fast and fool-proof installation. (Also see QT1042.)

Tech Note 1: Use With
Use QT1156 with QTA1133 Rod and QT1130 Thrust Plate.

Tech Note 2: Must Remove
Your brakes, wheel hubs, axle shafts, and differential must be removed from the housing to replace your QU40059 inner axle shaft seals.

Tech Note 3: 1976 and Prior
The inner axle seals used on all Chevy, Dodge, GMC, and IHC King Pin type, open knuckle Dana Model 60 and Model 61 Front Axles are the same. The seals and tools are different for 1976 and prior closed knuckle Dana 60 front axles and on all 1985 and newer Ford, and 1994 and newer Dodge trucks with ball joint type Model 60 axles.

Tech Note 4:Depth Stop
Model 60 specific Depth Stop Seal Installer which has a raised flange on it that will stop against the axle bore face when the seal is at the correct depth. This is a more fool-proof setup than QT1042, but it is a little more expensive and you can not vary the seal depth to miss a groove worn in the axle shaft. We also offer QT1042 adjustable depth installer allows you to offset the seal to miss a worn spot on the axle shaft. This is a valuable feature, however, YOU have to determine the final depth of the seal. It is possible to seat the seal too deep with QT1042 installer which can put the seal beyond they machined seal surface of the axle shaft.
