Tech Note 1: Product Note
QK1123 Shift Stub has 14mm coarse threads, and it can be used for both conversion and original equipment replacement applications. For early model New Venture NV4500 transmission shift covers with integral towers, QK1123 is specific to 1992-1993 Dodge NV4500s. For conversion or upgrade applications QK1123 will also fit 1994-1997 Dodge NV4500 transmissions that originally had QK1124 15mm square shank shift stub and 1992-1994 GM models that had QK1125 16mm fine thread stub. For a matching 14mm Shift Lever Kit, see QK1025 Shift Lever Kit or QK1027 Shift Lever and Stub Kit.
Tech Note 2: Trouble Shifting?
If you have an older NV4500 with the integral shaft tower (GM to 1995, Dodge to 1997), and you have trouble shifting into gear (usually 3rd or 4th) the culprit may be a worn shift tower seat. A very strong spring exerts down pressure against the shift stub. Over time, the stub will wear into the integral aluminum seat. In extreme cases, the seat wears to the point where the shift stub base will hit the shift rail. When this happens, the friction between the rail and stub can make shifting very difficult or cause the shifter stub to jump out of the rail notch. The solution is to replace QU10262 cover plate or cover assembly. The later design, QU10706 flat top cover with a removable tower is less prone to wear in the shift tower. Early and late covers are interchangeable as far as fitting the transmission goes, but you have to make sure you order the correct stub or tower to match your shifter when changing top cover types.
Tech Note 3: Spring
The small end of the pressure spring is oriented down against the shift stub knuckle. The spring is quite strong so a fair amount of down pressure must be applied to the cap before you will be able to twist it into the locked position.
Tech Note 4: Kit Components
QK1123 Shift Stub Kit Includes:
QU10708 Shift Stub
QU10131 Shift Stub to Tower Boot or Seal
QU10148 Twist Lock Retainer

Tech Note 6: Early NV4500 Note
1992-1993 Dodge and 1992-1994 GM NV4500 transmissions were built with a three piece twist lock shift lever retainer that included QU10159 rounded top twist lock cap, a sliding spring seat, and QU50500 single diameter spring. QU10148 Twist Lock Retainer and QU10149 Pressure Spring included with this Kit replace the original 3-piece retainer.
