Tech Note 1: Causes of Broken Transfer Cases
The major cause of broken Transfer Case castings is accidents. A good front end hit can push the driveshaft backwards breaking one or both case halves. Other common causes are running the transfer case out of oil, rock hits/high centering, excessive driveshaft angles (from Lift kits), and operating a case with a badly worn chain.

Tech Note 2: Check Oil Level
These transfer cases are shipped by New Venture with a factory fill of oil, but leakage can occur during shipping if the case is tipped. Always check the oil level after installation and refill with ATF+4 as needed.

Tech Note 3: Latest Production
QU11157 assembly is the latest production model of 52123025 series of transfer cases. It includes all the production updates that were phased in over the years. QU11157 replaces all previous 5213025 versions including: 52123025 and 52123025AA, 52123025AB, plus Dodge replacement R2123025 series cases.

Tech Note 4: Matching Slip Yokes
The output shaft has 34 splines. If you need a matching slip yoke, these are the available choices:
AAM 1415 Series (1-3/16" Cup Diameter): QU50430, QU50431, QU50752
AAM 1485 Series: (1-3/8" Cup Diameter): QU50441

Tech Note 5: No Gasket
Dodge did not use a gasket between the transmission and transfer case as both the transmission output shaft and transfer case input shaft are sealed. However, you can use TK10519 Transmission to Transfer Case Gasket if you wish.
