Applications
Tech Note 1: Part of Assembly
QU11084 was part of a 3 piece assembly that can be replaced by one piece QU10994. The 3 individual parts are: QU11084 Sprocket Carrier, QU11085 One Way Mode Clutch Gear, and one QU10902 Snap Ring. One QU10902 Snap Ring is still used to retain the Sprocket.
Tech Note 2: Snap Ring
QU10994 and QU11084 Sprocket Carriers use QU10902 Snap Rings. Early production QU50679 Sprocket Carriers use wide QU10905 Snap Rings. The change over occurred in the 2003-2004 models years. All the 2005 and newer transfer cases we have seen have Sprocket Carriers that use narrow QU10902 Snap Ring.
Tech Note 3: New Venture/New Process/Magna
In 1998, when Ford (1999 models) and Dodge (2003 models) first used NV271 and NV273 transfer cases, New Process Gear (NPG) of East Syracuse N.Y was part of New Venture Gear (NVG). When NVG dissolved, NPG continued on under Chrysler. Chrysler subsequently sold the production rights to Magna, a Canadian automotive parts company. All these name changes are confusing, but the important thing to know is a specific assembly number for any 271F, 271D, 273D, and 273F transfer case is the same and uses the same replacement parts regardless of it was built by New Venture, New Process, or Magna.
