Tech Note 1: Replace Snap or Lock Rings 
It is always a good idea to replace all the snap/lock rings when rebuilding a transfer case. It is ESSENTIAL to replace any snap/lock ring that is bowed, stretched, worn or shows evidence of heat damage. Failure to replace a damaged snap/lock ring could lead to catastrophic transfer case failure. To help insure your rebuild job is complete and comprehensive, our Transfer Case Master Overhaul Kits include all the snap or lock rings (except for the big annulus gear snap ring) specific to cases serviced by the Kit.

Tech Note 2: To Remove
You can easily remove a QU10814 ring from your planetary by catching one of the hooked ends with a small screwdriver.

Tech Note 3: To Install
QU10814 ring fits in a groove in the planetary housing just above the metal Planetary Thrust Washer.
