Tech Note 1: Before Installing
At least one of the six bend over tabs will line up with a flat on the outer spindle nut after it is tightened. Bend that tab over the outer nut flat to lock the nut in place.

Tech Note 2: To Install
The pre-bent tabs on QU10576 Washer go over a flat on the inner nut instead of a corner. This may differ from most original lock washers (refer to photo) which have a compound bend on the tabs that will go over a corner of the nut. QU10576 washers are made so the inner tab ends can be altered to grip a nut corner if you require more precise nut adjustment, but if you modify the washer it cannot be returned.

Tech Note 3: Single Use Part
QU10576 Spindle Lock Washer is designed as a "Single Use" part. For safety reasons, these parts are intended to be installed once and only once! The key slot tab, which keeps the washer from turning, can become fatigued and break off if the washer is reused or if the outer nut is over torqued. You must discard any QU40037 lock washer that is removed from the spindle for any reason and replace it with a new QU10576 Spindle Lock Washer.

Tech Note 4: IHC 1100
This Lock Washer fits 1957-1974 Dodge, 1956-1975 International, and 1968-1973 Jeep trucks with front spindles that have 1-3/4' threads and wheel hubs that are drilled and tapped with 6 3/8" holes in a 3-3/4" bolt circle to mount an external drive flange or lockout hub. QU10576 washer is NOT used on 1964-1975 International 1/2 ton 4x4s or 1969-1974 Dodge W-100 4x4 trucks with 3-3/8" diameter internally splined wheel hubs. Tech Note 5: Internal Tab
QU10576 Spindle Lock Washer has an internal tab that fits a 1/4" spindle key slot. It is not uncommon to find a spindle with slightly mashed threads at the outboard end which will reduce the slot width. If present, this condition will need to be fixed before you can install the lock washer.

Tech Note 6: 1.750” Thread
International and Jeep truck year and model application information is often difficult to precisely list due to the relatively low production numbers and the fact that both manufacturers often built special purpose vehicles for government and vocational applications. Regardless of the application information, if you have a front spindle with 1.750" thread, QU10576 is the correct part for your 4x4.
