QU10196 Input Bearing Front Retainer for 1992-1995 Chevy and GM NV4500 Transmissions is a bare, replacement part that fits all New Venture NV4500HD 5 speed Manual Transmissions in 1992-1995 GM C1500, C2500, K2500, C3500, K3500 trucks, and P-series vans with diesel or gas engines. Use with 1-1/8" 10 Spline Input Shafts. QU10196 is a bare, finished casting, it does NOT include QU10125 Input Bearing Cup and QU10126 Input Seal. Imported.

Tech Note 1: Dimensions
Approximate dimensions for QU10196 are:
Bellhousing index pilot diameter 5.125".
Pilot for the transmission case 3.625".
Bolt Circle 4.375"
Length 3.75"
Snout Diameter 1.371"
Inside Diameter of Snout 1.154"

Tech Note 2: Fits
QU10196 only fits 1992-1995 GM NV4500 transmission cases. The matching input shaft (QU10043AM for 1992-1994 or QU10077 for 1995) will be 1-1/8" x 10 spline. Applications that use this bearing retainer will have an externally mounted clutch slave cylinder.

Tech Note 3: Sealant
Early production NV4500 Transmissions used an anaerobic sealant (QU90003) to seal between the main case and bearing retainer. Later production transmissions used black RTV sealant (QU90006 or QU90005). Either type of sealant works fine, but I prefer RTV for this application. Regardless of which sealant you use, make sure excess sealant does not block the lube access hole at the top of pilot that fits into the transmission case. Also, the threaded holes in the main case for the four retainer bolts are open ended, so you must use new bolts with factory applied theadlocker (QU10100) or apply Threadlocker (S24200) to your existing bolts to prevent oil seepage past the bolt threads. Tech Note 4: Installing Clutch Release Bearing
Before installing your Clutch Release Bearing (QU51002), apply a very thin flim of tacky grease to the retainer snout. This lube, combined with grease on the inside of the release bearing casting will reduce clutch pedal effort and wear on the snout.

Tech Note 5: Tools
Use QT1801 Bearing Cup to install and fully seat QU10125 Timken High Performance Input Bearing Cup into QU10196 Retainer. Use QT2005 Bearing/Seal Installer to install QU10126 Input Seal. See my TM1003 NV4500 Shop Manual or VSG1003DVD NV4500 Overhaul Video for more information.
