QU10019 Late NV4500, Double Row Reverse Idler Gear Bearing For all 1997-2007 NV4500 transmissions. QU10019 is an original equipment type quiet running, double row, plastic cage bearing. For all NV4500 transmissions with the single-plane, 5.04-1 reverse gear. QU10019 replaces QU10170 double row or (2) ZN1109 single row bearings.

Tech Note 1: 1998 Change
Early production NV4500 transmissions with the 5.04-1 reverse gear ratio used two narrow, metal cage needle bearings placed side by side for the reverse idler gear. These were replaced by QU10019 unitized, plastic cage double row bearing during the 1998 model year. The double row bearing has longer rollers for more capacity and it runs quieter than the two metal cage type bearings. Either bearing type will fit any 1997-2007 NV4500 transmission.

Tech Note 2: 1997 Change
Effective with the 1997 model year, New Venture changed the NV4500 reverse gear ratio from 5.61-1 to 5.04-1. Since the 5.04 ratio is accomplished with the gear contact points for the countershaft, reverse idler gear and reverse gear in line with each other, a smaller diameter and narrower reverse idler gear is used compared to the 1996 and earlier model NV4500 transmissions.

Tech Note 6: Lubricants, Sealants, Threadlockers
Early production NV4500 Transmissions used an anaerobic sealant (QU90003) to seal between the main case and input bearing retainer, top cover, and rear housing. Mid-production units used anaerobic sealant just on the input retainer and RTV for everything else. Later production transmissions used black RTV Sealant (QU90006 or QU90005) for everything. Either type of sealant works fine (except the PTO covers ALWAYS should be sealed with RTV), but I prefer RTV for all components. Regardless of which sealant you use, make sure excess sealant does not block the lube access hole at the top of input retainer pilot that fits into the transmission case! Also, the threaded holes in the main case for the four retainer bolts and 12 PTO bolts are open ended, so you must use new bolts with factory applied threadlocker or apply Threadlocker (S24200) to your existing bolts to prevent oil seepage past the bolt threads.
