Jeep used Dana 70 Rear Axles in 1957-1967 FC-170 Dual Rear Wheel (DRW), 1962-1970 J-Series DRW, and 1967-1969 M715 series Single Rear Wheel military trucks. Around 32,000 M715 and related trucks were built. Many were left in Vietnam or shipped to Israel, but currently finding a good M715 is not all that hard to do. Other than differential components, many of the parts used in the M715 series Dana 70 rear axles are not interchangeable with the Jeep civilian Dana 70 DRW axles.
The M715 wheel bolt pattern is 6 bolt with a 7-1/4" bolt circle making it what we believe is the last production 4x4 to use that once common, but now very obsolete wheel bolt pattern. The Brakes are 13" x 2-1/2" with manual adjustment.
The M715 Dana 70 Rear Axle has a conventional open differential with 1-1/2" x 23 spline side gears
