The Dana Spicer Model 25, Model 27, and Model 27AF front axles are nearly identical in external appearance. All three axle models have the exact same differential cover bolt pattern as the later Dana 30. The Dana 25 was not used by International in the Scout, but it was used by Jeep from 1941-1960 for all applications except FC-170 and wide track FC-150 trucks. In 1961, Jeep did use the Model 27 for CJ-3B (serial numbers 57348-69426 to 57348-75400, CJ5 (serial numbers 57548-121247 to 57548-127473), and CJ-6 (serial numbers 57748-19314 to 57748-20035) before reverting back to the Model 25. From 1962 to possibly as late as 1965, Jeep concurrently used both the Model 25 and Model 27F axles for CJ models. The Model 27F was used in all 1962-1970 Jeep Wagoneer, 1966-1971 CJ-5 and CJ-6, plus 1967-1971 Jeepster Commando 4x4s. Jeep Utility Trucks and Wagons retained the Model 25 at least through September 1962 and possibly to the end of production in 1964. Very early production IHC Scouts had Dana 27F axles, but effective with chassis number FC15544, the front axle was changed to the Dana 27AF.
