Tech Note 1: Dodge
1975-1993 Dodge Dana 60 and 1987-1993 Dodge Dana 61 Front Axles all use the same axle shafts. The Dana 60/61 axles were the stock axles in W300 and W350 4x4 trucks except for some 1982-1985 Single Rear Wheel W350 trucks which had a Dana 44 front Axle. The Dana 60/61 was optional on 1980-1993 gas powered W250 4x4s. 1989-1993 Dodge W250 trucks wiyth the Cummins Diesel engine all have either a Dana 60 or Dana 61 front axle. For Dodge applications, QU40329 is the RIGHT or short side Inner Axle Shaft.

Tech Note 2: 1988-1991 F-350
For the Model Years 1988 to 1991, there is conflicting part number information between Dana and Ford parts lists for the Ford F-350 Dana 60 Front Axle. In 1988, Dana shows a mid year model change with axle Bill of Material Number 610313 that effects the axle shafts. My Ford factory Parts Books do not show 610313 axle tag number until 1990 and they still show the parts to be the same as 1985 to early 1988 axles. I can't remember any F-350 that went through the shop that we found the Dana information to be wrong, but truthfully, unless we did not have the correct part in stock, we probably would not compare the Dana and Ford parts data.

Tech Note 3: Verify Length in 1988-1991 F-350
Ford F-350 Dana 60 front axles had an inner axle shaft axle length change. Dana lists the new axle shaft as 1988 mid model year change but Ford does not show this change until 1992. If you are looking for an inner axle shaft for a 1988 to 1991 F-350, you will have to verify length. QU40329 is the correct left inner axle shaft if your 1988/91 F-350 left inner axle shaft measures 15.965" from the center of the u-joint hole to the end of the shaft. Tech Note 4: Size
QU40329 is an 1-1/2" x 35 spline inner axle shaft made for Spicer 1480WJ series axle universal joints. The shaft is approximately 15-31/32" long from center of u-joint hole to end. The span between the yoke ears is 3". QU40329 takes an internal c-clip type axle universal joint with 1-3/8" diameter cups. The matching axle u-joints are: QU30332 (greaseable hot-forged cross), TK40715 (Premium non-greaseable cold forged cross), and TK40724 (Premium greaseable cold forged cross). Tech Note 5: Before Installing
Do not apply lubricant to the axle shaft seal surface before installation. A dry shaft is less likely to pickup dirt that could damage the inner axle seal. If your inner axle shaft seals are NEW, lubricate the seal lips with grease after the seals are installed in the axle housing.

Tech Note 6: Oil Seal
If you need an axle shaft, chances are you also need the inner axle oil seals located next to the differential. See QU40059 Oil Seal and QK4656 Seal Kit with installation tools.
