QU40097 Genuine Dana OEM Model 60, Model 70 Pinion Seal for many Dana-Spicer Model 60, Model 61, and Model 70 Axles. This genuine Dana-Spicer original equipment service part fits almost all 1999 and prior Model 60 and 70 front or rear drive axles. It also is the correct seal for a few 2000 and later applications. This high quality seal features a pre-lubricated double lip design and it has a factory applied sealing compound that will seal against the face of our axle's seal bore face when the seal is fully installed. Country of origin has always been U.S.A. but with the movement of most seal manufacturers to foreign production this may change.

Tech Note 1: Grooved Pinion Yoke
A grooved pinion yoke will usually cause a new Pinion Seal to fail after a short time. Installing stainless steel wear sleeves marketed by most major seal manufacturers would seem like a viable alternative, unfortunately, this type of repair rarely lasts long. Why? A worn sleeve increases the diameter of the yoke by 0.020"-0.040". When a stock seal, engineered for the original yoke diameter is installed over a wear sleeve, the larger installed diameter of the sleeve causes the seal to run hotter and wear much faster than normal. Result: Rapid seal wear and presto! the oil leak is back. Usually, the only long-term solution is to replace the yoke. Other common causes of seal failure are installation errors, not lubricating the seal lip and yoke with clean grease, and object damage such as getting grass wrapped around the Pinion Yoke.
