Description

QU40086 Dana 60, Dana 70 Genuine Dana-Spicer Grade 9 Ring Gear Bolt has locking teeth under the hex head to prevent loosening under any load conditions. QU40086 is an exact fit, genuine Dana-Spicer replacement part for most Dana 60, Dana 61, Dana 70, and Dana 70HD axles from the mid-1980's on. This bolt, which has a serrated inner face, resists loosening better than smooth faced, aftermarket or first design QU40522 Dana original equipment bolts. QU40086 also works great for retrofitting older axles in place of the original bolt as long as you use torque spec given in below.

Dan The Gear Man® Safety Note: Ring Gear Bolts are designed for a single use. They must be replaced after they are removed!

I bought these because I have a Ford 10.5 Sterling (also called a Ford 10.5 or Visteon 10.5). The factory bolts do not have a shoulder or serrated face on the underside. There is belief that this can cause them to loosen. I never personally experienced this in over 265,000 miles, but I always look to make anything I rebuild the best it can possibly be. I don't use a crush sleeve (I opt for a solid spacer) and I'll upgrade to these Dada 70 bolts because it certainly won't hurt anything. These are obviously very high quality, and certainly better than reusing the OEM bolts (sketchy), or using the likely made in China bolts in the rebuild kit.
