Tech Note 2: Bearings
Driveshaft Center Bearings need to be pressed on and off your rear driveshaft. See TM3000 Driveshaft and Universal Joint Service Manual or TSB3506 Center Bearing Replacement Service Bulletin for service procedures.
Tech Note 3: Tube Length
Two Piece rear driveshafts with a center support bearing are generally used on longer wheel base trucks where the driveshaft tube length exceeds five to six feet. The physical limitations of transmitting rotational torque via a tube dictate the maximum allowable unsupported driveshaft length. As a rule of thumb, for a given maximum speed and torque, the larger the tube, the longer the distance that can be spanned. Aluminum shafts can be a bit longer than steel, but even big-diameter aluminum shafts usually are not more than 6-1/2' long.
