QA20217 Ford New Venture NV273F Transfer Case Shift Update Kit is a genuine original equipment Kit for 1999-2004 Ford New Venture NV273F Electric Shift Transfer Cases in 1999-2004 Ford Super Duty F250, F350, F450, F550 and Ford Excursion 4x4s. Kit includes a new Mainshaft (Rear Output Shaft), Sliding Range Collar and Range Shift Fork with Pads. The new design parts help minimize range fork pad wear and reduce the chances of having the range fork and shift collar failures. Can also be used for major rebuilds on all 2005-2010 NV273F Transfer Cases. Replaces QU20217. USA Made.

Tech Note 2: Shift Fork Issues
All original 2000-2005.5 Ford Excursion and 1999-2004 Ford Super Duty NV273F electric shift transfer cases had issues with excessive shift fork and pad wear. A fork redesign in 2001 helped, but the final solution was this factory Shaft and Fork Update Kit (which uses QU10951 Pads) which was developed to address those wear problems with the original fork/hub, and shaft design.

Tech Note 3: Pad Wear
Range Forks typically fail when the Plastic Shift Fork Pads wear away. While there can be several causes of Pad wear, high on the list is dirty or low oil. Check and change your Transfer Case oil on a regular basis!

Tech Note 5: New Venture/New Process/Magna
When Ford (1999 models) and Dodge (2003 models) first used NV271 and NV273 transfer cases, New Process Gear (NPG) of East Syracuse N.Y was part of New Venture Gear (NVG). When NVG dissolved, NPG continued on under Chrysler. Chrysler subsequently sold the production rights to Magna, a Canadian automotive parts company. All these name changes are confusing, but the important thing to know is a specific assembly number for any 271F, 271D, 273D, and 273F transfer case is the same and uses the same replacement parts regardless of it was built by New Venture, New Process, or Magna.
