Applications

Tech Note 1: 1940’s to 1991
Dodge used 2-/16" hex nuts on most 3/4 ton and one ton front or rear axles until the mid 1970's when Dodge switched to Live Spindle Model 44 3/4 ton front axles starting in 1975. Dodge fazed out the QU11070 doubled, 2" thread, 2-9/16" hex spindle nuts for Dana full float rear axles starting in the later 1970's, replacing them with QU40077 single 2-9/16" hex spindle lock nut. For Dana 60 front axles, hex nuts were phased out starting in 1991. By 1992, the double hex nut was replaced by QK4729 double round nut set.

Tech Note 2: Other Than Dodge
Other than Dodge, the only civilian 4x4 trucks I can recall using a 2-9/16" hex spindle nut was a few International models I worked on back in the late 1970's. The 1967-1969 Jeep M715 family of 1-1/4 ton military trucks use 2-1/2" nuts for the front and rear axles, but I worked on at least one civilian owned M715 that had 2-9/16" nuts on the rear axle.

Tech Note 3: Clearance
If there is enough clearance inside the wheel hub (A BIG if), you could use QT1218 Hex Socket with 2-9/16" rounded spindle nuts, however, there is no way a regular hex nut will fit inside a QT1009i 2-9/16" Rounded Hex Spindle Nut Socket.
