QU10862 Collapsible Pinion Preload Spacer (Crush Sleeve) AAM 925, 950

QU10862 AAM 925 and 950 Collapsible Pinion Preload Spacer (Crush Sleeve) is a genuine original equipment AAM part for many AAM axles in Chevy, Dodge, and GMC vehicles. These Pinion Preload Spacers are installed between the pinion stem and outer pinion bearing. For GM applications, QU10862 fits 1988-up 9-1/4" AAM925IFS front axle and 1982-up 9-1/2" GM/AAM 14 bolt semi-float rear axles. For Dodge, fits all 2003-current 4x4 Dodge Ram 2500, Ram 3500 trucks, and 2004-2010 Ram 1500 Mega Cab models with the solid beam 4x4 front axle.

Tech Note 1: During Assembly
During assembly, as you tighten the pinion nut, the outer pinion bearing is forced against this Spacer. It usually takes several hundred pounds of torque to initiate compression of the Spacer which will slowly collapse as you further tighten the Pinion Nut. The trick is to tighten the nut only to the point you get the desired rotating torque for the pinion (measured in INCH pounds). Go too far and you have to start over with a new nut and Preload Spacer. NEVER, EVER back off a pinion nut to reduce the pinion rotating torque!
