Tech Note 1: 2001-2005 NV5600
When the NV5600 was first introduced in the 1999 model year, it had a 1-1/4" input shaft and it was driven by a 12.4" clutch. Neither the small input or clutch was able to handle the torque of a 2001 high output Cummins. Effective with the 2001 model year, the NV5600 input spline was increased to 1-3/8" and a heavier flywheel with a 13" clutch was also used. The 2001-2005 factory 6 speed flywheel has the starter ring gear mounted farther forward so a starter spacer is used to move the starter motor forward. QU10851 is the longer length 12 point high-torque Bolt required to attach the starter and spacer to the front of the Cummins flywheel housing.
