Tech Note 1: Rod & Thrust Plate
Use QT1042 with QTA1133 Rod and QT1130 Thrust Plate

Tech Note 2: Must Remove
Your brakes, wheel hubs, axle shafts, and differential must be removed from the housing to replace your QU40059 inner axle shaft seals.

Tech Note 3: Knuckle Type
The inner axle seals used on all Chevy, Dodge, Ford, GMC, and IHC King Pin type, open knuckle Dana Model 60 and Model 61 Front Axles are the same. The seals and tools are different for 1976 and prior closed knuckle Dana 60 front axles and on all 1992 and newer Ford and 1994 and newer Dodge trucks with ball joint type Model 60 axles.

Tech Note 4: Feature
QT1042 adjustable depth installer allows you to offset the seal to miss a worn spot on the axle shaft. This is a valuable feature, however, YOU have to determine the final depth of the seal. It is possible to seat the seal too deep with QT1042 installer which can put the seal beyond they machined seal surface of the axle shaft. We also offer QT1156 Model 60 specific Depth Stop Seal Installer which has a raised flange on it that will stop against the axle bore face when the seal is at the correct depth. This is a more fool-proof setup than QT1042, but it is a little more expensive and you cannot vary the seal depth to miss a groove worn in the axle shaft.
