Dimensionally, the two types are interchangeable and by the early 1970's, all the axles were built with the one piece seal that combines the Seal and Guide into a single unit. I always replace the two piece Seal with the one piece as I believe it has greater sealing ability plus longer life. With a closed knuckle axle, seal seepage from the differential often goes unnoticed until the a catastrophic ring and pinion failure occurs because the errant lube ends up in the knuckle ball. These Seals are tricky to install so I recommend you also order our optional installation tooling.
