The same cover size is also found on imported Getrag G360 and ZF 5 or 6 speed transmissions. Also, the threaded holes in the main case for the four retainer bolts and 12 PTO bolts are open ended, so you must use new bolts with factory applied threadlocker or apply Threadlocker (\u003ca href=\"\/products\/24200-s24200-medium-strength-blue-242-threadlocker-6ml\" target=\"_blank\"\u003eS24200\u003c\/a\u003e) to your existing bolts to prevent oil seepage past the bolt threads. While a nice idea, functional and reliability problems caused GM to drop the idea. GM parts books show the synchronized case was available from 1982-1985. We have had a few customers with 1986 trucks with them, but they may not be original units.
