Introduced as the stock Transfer Case for the 2003 Dodge Ram 2500 and Ram 3500 trucks, the NV271D Manual Shift Transfer Case has proven to be a reasonably reliable unit. The NV271D is a manual shift, chain drive transfer case with a 2.72:1 planetary driven low range and aluminum case castings. It was built at the New Process plant in East Syracuse New York until production was switched to Mexico in 2010-2011.
