We stock a wide selection of parts and tools for 1978 and 1979 Ford F-250 and F-350 Dana 60 open knuckle front drive axles with King Pins. The open knuckle, monobeam, Dana-Spicer Model 60 which was introduced in the 1976 model year F-250 Crew Cab was reengineered for 1978. The Model 44 sized front wheel hub and axle shaft pieces were replaced by parts similar in size to those used by Dodge and GM Dana 60 axles. Ford upped the Model 60 weight rating to 4500 pounds and sold it as an option on 1978-1979 regular cab and Super Cab F-250 trucks and introduced a new F-350 4x4 in 1979 with a standard equipment Model 60 (This was the first factory available 1 ton Ford 4x4).

The 1978-1979, heavy-duty Dana 60 front axle proved to be rugged, easy to maintain, and just the ticket for easily handling snow plows or other heavy front end equipment. Ford only used the 4500 pound Dana 60 for 2 years, dropping the monobeam Dana 60 in favor of an Independent Front Suspension (IFS) Dana-Spicer Model 50 rated at 4600 pounds.
