Description
QU10104 Breather Vent and Hose Assembly for New Process and New Venture is a New Old Stock (NOS) genuine New Venture Gear Replacement Vent assembly with a short hose that is specific to NV4500 5 speed manual transmissions, but it also fits NV5600 6 speed transmissions and a host of other NPG (New Process Gear) and NVG (New Venture Gear) transmission and transfer case applications. QU10104 includes QU11092 90 degree angle fitting, QU10924 2" long Rubber Hose, Corbin Type Clamp, and QU30040 Capped Vent. The plastic vent itself will fit any 5/16" hose and is commonly used as an axle vent breather. USA Made.

Tech Note 1: Specs
QU10104 has a stub diameter of approximately 0.371". It is a press fit into approximate 0.365" diameter vent holes in most New Process and New Venture transmissions and transfer cases. The press fit is usually adequate to retain the vent fitting, but I like to put some S64000 Sleeve Retainer on the stub before pressing it into the housing. On some applications, you can also slightly expand the inboard end of the stub if it protrudes past the inside of the case.

Tech Note 4: Lubricants, Sealants, Threadlockers
Early production NV4500 Transmissions used an anaerobic sealant (QU90003) to seal between the main case and input bearing retainer, top cover, and rear housing. Mid-production units used anaerobic sealant just on the input retainer and RTV for everything else. Later production transmissions used black RTV Sealant (QU90006 or QU90005) for everything. Either type of sealant works fine (except the PTO covers ALWAYS should be sealed with RTV), but I prefer RTV for all components. Regardless of which sealant you use, make sure excess sealant does not block the lube access hole at the top of input retainer pilot that fits into the transmission case! Also, the threaded holes in the main case for the four retainer bolts and 12 PTO bolts are open ended, so you must use new bolts with factory applied threadlocker or apply Threadlocker (S24200) to your existing bolts to prevent oil seepage past the bolt threads. Extended breather vent
These securely mount into the nv5600 and extend far enough that any oil dripped will fall past the trans to the ground instead of pooling on the extension housing. Love them!
